vaccines
A physical exam accompanies each vaccine since it is required that your pet be in good health in order to receive a vaccine.
A dog needs a DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) and a rabies vaccine. A cat needs a FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) and a rabies vaccine. When your dog/cat is 8 weeks old and again at 12 weeks he/she receives a DHPP/ FVRCP (booster) vaccine. At 16 weeks your pet receives their last booster and a rabies vaccine. Then one year later he/she will receive another booster and rabies vaccine. Although this rabies vaccine is a 3-year vaccine, your dog/cat will still need an annual exam and DHPP or FVRCP.
An additional vaccine is required for dogs if you choose to send them to a boarding facility. The bordetella vaccine, also commonly referred to as kennel cough, should ideally be given 2 weeks in advance or more before boarding.
