Bloodwork is an important diagnostic tool that helps our veterinarians find the cause of your pet’s illness or discomfort. It helps bring to light the signs of illness not visible to human eyes. We use our in-house veterinary lab for a variety of diagnostic procedures including bloodwork. This helps us make a prompt diagnosis and initiate treatment immediately. For specialized testing procedures, we also collaborate with an outside lab. To know more about our bloodwork services and diagnostic offerings, feel free to call us at 905-827-4100.

Why does my pet need bloodwork?

Bloodwork can help in early detection of diseases that can go unnoticed for a long time, especially in senior dogs and cats. Early detection can help in the successful management of the illness. For puppies and kittens, it can provide a baseline to be used for future reference. It also assists veterinarians in understanding your pet’s immune system.

How often should my pet have bloodwork done?

Most veterinarians recommend annual blood testing for cats and dogs. For senior pets, eight years or older, blood testing is recommended to be done every six months as their health deteriorates faster due to age. Consult with our veterinarians today to see when your pet needs a blood test.

What other diagnostic testing do you provide?

Our in-house laboratory can offer a variety of diagnostic procedures including bloodwork, urinalysis and fecal parasite examination. Please call us at 905-827-4100 to learn more about our services.
